Entrepreneur and chairperson of Young FICCI Ladies Organisation, Delhi, Divya Jain has travelled across the country, interacting with people at the grassroot level and helping students upskill themselves and find the right career opportunities.
In 2020, she co-founded
, an AI-driven, video-first, upskilling platform that helps people prepare for the real-world, thus bridging the gap between one’s skills and the demands of a job. The Gurugram-based startup also goes the extra mile to connect users with job opportunities, internships and corporate projects.An alumnus of University of London and University of Cambridge, Jain is an art collector and enjoys horse riding and reading in her spare time. She is the recipient of the ASEAN achievers’ award and the Director of Safexpress, a logistics and supply chain provider.
Recently, in a fun and candid conversation for Rapid Fire with YS Life, Jain gave us a peek into her life beyond her business.
YS Life (YSL): What are the three words that best describe you?
Divya Jain (DJ): Curious, relentless, and passionate.
I strive to keep my curiosity alive across all aspects of life. I want to always pursue my goals relentlessly. And I am highly passionate about entrepreneurialism, innovation, and driven with the aim to bring change in the lives of people.
YSL: The last book/movie/show that inspired you?
DJ: An uplifting read, Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown.
YSL: What is your guilty pleasure?
DJ: I have a weakness for chocolates and often find myself indulging in shows and movies on Netflix late at night.
YSL: Two startup founders that you don’t mind getting stuck in an elevator with?
DJ: Sam Altman and Elon Musk.
YSL: First thing that you do in the morning?
DJ:I start my day with physical training. It’s the best start to a day since it prepares you to focus and instantly boosts confidence levels for completing a difficult task at the start of the day.
YSL: The last thing that you do before hitting the bed?
DJ: I am always inclined to do some reading before I have to sleep.
YSL: Fame or money?
DJ: Neither.
YSL: The one thing that you love about your job?
DJ: I cherish the ability to create real impact and change through Seekho.
YSL: The one thing that you hate about your job?
DJ: Among the toughest things are dependencies and the inability to control certain outcomes.
YSL: What is an overrated thing?
DJ: I believe influencers today are overrated.
YSL: If not an entrepreneur, then what?
DJ: If I wasn’t an entrepreneur, I would imagine myself as a sports athlete or a journalist.
YSL: If you could change one thing in your journey, what would it be?
DJ: If my future self could speak to my past self, she would probably give her the advice to not be impatient at any moment, because anything worth building takes time and effort.
YSL: What’s the golden rule to stay ahead in life and business?
DJ: I think it’s imperative to remind yourself to keep moving and keep innovating along the journey of life.
YSL: Things that are always in your handbag?
DJ: My iPhone, a book, my remarkable lip gloss, and my sunglasses for when it’s bright outside.
YSL: The mantra that you live by?
DJ: Love what you do, do what you love.
