‘My greatest fear is getting stuck in the rut of life’: Goumtesh Singh, Co-Partner, Raasta

Goumtesh Singh aka Joy Singh is from Jammu and is the Co-Partner of Raasta, the Caribbean Lounge situated at Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi and many other ventures. He holds an MBA degree in International Business. His restaurant, Raasta won an award for its Cyber Hub outlet. Here are his answers to our Proust questionnaire….

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

To be content in life.


What is your greatest fear?

Getting stuck in the day to day rut of life.


What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Procrastination.


What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Same as above, Procrastination.


Which living person do you most admire?

My father. 


What is your current state of mind?

Vote and note.


On what occasion do you lie?

I try and not lie most of the time.


What do you most dislike about your appearance?

Usually nothing, but due to my current situation that I have gained a little weight.


What is the quality you most like in a man?

Strength.


What is the quality you most like in a woman?

The will to take on anything and any situation.


Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

 “Will do it by the end of the day”.


What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My family.


Which talent would you most like to have?

To be able to remember everything.


If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Plan my past in a better way.


What do you consider your greatest achievement?

It hasn’t happened yet but I am planning towards making it happen soon.


If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

A preacher.


Where would you most like to live?

In India, either in the hills or the beaches. Otherwise, I would love to live in Amsterdam.


What is your most treasured possession?

I think my ability to smile at all times and in all situations.


What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Not sharing knowledge with others.

What is your favourite occupation?

What I am doing right now.


What is your most marked characteristic?

My smile.


What do you most value in your friends?

They are always there for me, no matter what happens.


Who are your favourite writers?

I’m not much of a reader.


Who is your hero of fiction?

Iron man.


Who are your heroes in real life?

My father, mother, wife and brother.

What’s in a name, as Shakespeare said.


What is it that you most dislike?

Dishonesty and people who approach life with a ‘chalta hai’ attitude.


What is your greatest regret?

I don’t have regrets in life because what I have done in the past were all my decisions.


How would you like to die?

In my sleep.


What is your favourite journey?

My travels via Amsterdam because it feels like home.


What is your motto?

Jeeyo and Peeyo.
