Best of Weekender: From a fabric treatment service to a chef who is teaching kids how to bake, and more

One way to keep the dreaded coronavirus at bay is by constantly washing hands and using sanitisers. But what about the clothes we wear? Delhi-based Nanochemiqs attempted to answer this question with its revolutionary nanotechnology-reliant dry-cleaning service Faibr-x, launched in 2020.

Faibr-x offers a unique fabric treatment service that claims to make clothes and home linen free of bacteria and viruses. It offers these specialised treatments to daily routine clothes, linen, upholstery, or any other type of fabric.

Paloma yoga

Yoga’s global popularity has ensured that this wellness practice has as many teachers as there are practitioners. But only the very best make a name for themselves and garner a following. Over her 13-year discipline, Mumbai-based Paloma Gangopadhyay, a yogi and injury management expert, has done exactly that.

Through her proprietary method called Palomayoga, she has conducted corporate wellness programmes at companies like Mercedes, HDFC sales, Mackenzie, and trained influential personalities like Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Nikitin Dheer to name a few.

anemia - iron deficiency

A common health condition among many of us is anaemia. Some of the common symptoms of anaemia are lethargy, weakness, fatigue, mental fog, cold hands, cold feet, dizziness, difficulty breathing, low tolerance to exercise, and inability to tolerate temperature changes.

It is a definite root cause of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions as well. In women, it can also be a cause of heavy menstrual cycles as it reduces the proportion of red blood cells.

While the common way to assess is to look at haemoglobin levels, that might not be adequate. It can also be visible as a reduction in hematocrits, and most importantly, as low ferritin, which represents iron storage.

Bakez by Daizy

With the festive season upon us, it is time to loosen our belts and indulge to our heart’s content, and Delhi-based Bakez by Daizy, helmed by pastry chef Daizy Sangla, is here to help. Started from Chef Daizy’s kitchen in 2011, the patisserie has grown – both in terms of clientele and the services offered.

Specialising in non-fondant cakes, Bakez by Daizy is best known for its innovative use of Nutella.

Since children are her most willing customers, in 2018, she ventured into teaching baking to kids aged four to 12. Addressing the attendees as ‘Little Chefs’, Daizy enjoys incorporating their requests into her menus and ensures that everything taught is child friendly and customisable as per individual wishes.
