NASSCOM appoints new chairperson and vice chairperson

NASSCOM, the Indian IT industry’s trade body has appointed Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India as its chairperson for 2023-24. Anant takes on the new role from his previous role as Vice Chairperson succeeding Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Business and Technology Services Tata Consultancy Services, who served as Chairperson for the year 2022-23.

NASSCOM also announced the appointment of Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman and MD, Cognizant India as its Vice Chairperson for 2023-24.

In addition, NASSCOM announced its new Executive Council for 2023-2025. This council will play a strategic role in enabling India’s tech sector to lead on the global stage through focused initiatives and programs. The list of Executive Council members includes one-third representation by women leaders.

The newly appointed leadership along with President Debjani Ghosh will spearhead the industry to carry out its wide array of objectives to achieve the tech industry’s vision of $500 billion by 2030. NASSCOM along with the newly appointed Executive Council will continue to work with government bodies to help build policies that can further support the growth of the Indian IT sector.

IT spending by Indian enterprises to grow 7.8% in 2023

The spending on information technology by Indian enterprises is projected to grow by 7.8% in 2023 which is slower than 2022, according to IDC. Consumer IT spending saw a drastic decline in the fourth quarter of 2022 and turned cautious due to rising prices, pulling the growth to 2.1% in 2023.

Overall Indian IT spending which includes spending by enterprises, service providers and consumers is projected to grow by 4.7% in 2023 to $86.7 billion in constant currency, lower than 5.8% growth IDC reported for 2023.

Enterprises’ immediate concerns impacting IT budgets are inflation-driven price increases, staffing shortages, IT supply chain constraints - especially on the networking side and the impact of the weakening global economy on expected business revenues.

LTIMindtree bags order from Currys of UK

IT services company LTIMindtree has been selected as a digital transformation partner by Currys, a UK based retailer of technology products and services. During this five-year engagement, Currys will use LTIMindtree’s retail business consulting and technology capabilities to deliver the next phase of omnichannel transformation to its consumers and employees.

This new partnership builds on LTIMindtree’s delivery of a connected and highly personalised omnichannel shopping experience for Currys’ consumers across multiple markets since 2022. The last 12 months have shown that Omnichannel is the preferred model for consumers and Currys is building on this trend.

The multi-million-dollar collaboration aims to enhance Currys’ omnichannel revenue stream and drive cost transformation. Consequently, it will also enable Currys to strengthen its market position.

LTIMindtree will help Currys modernise their systems by consolidating and simplifying consumer and employee-facing applications, leading to accelerated innovation, increased efficiency, and an overall improved end-user experience.

IBM unveils new security suite product

Global technology company IBM has unveiled its new security suite designed to unify and accelerate the security analyst experience across the full incident lifecycle. The IBM Security QRadar Suite represents an evolution and expansion of the QRadar brand, spanning all core threat detection, investigation and response technologies, with significant investment in innovations across the portfolio.

Delivered as a service, the IBM Security QRadar Suite is built on an open foundation and designed specifically for the demands of hybrid cloud. It features a single, modernized user interface across all products – embedded with advanced AI and automation designed to empower analysts to work with greater speed, efficiency and precision across their core toolsets.

Built on the company's existing leadership in 12 security technology categories, IBM has rearchitected its market leading threat detection and response portfolio to maximise speed and efficiency, and to meet the specific needs of today's security analysts.

Tata Capital and MoEngage form partnership

Tata Capital, the financial services company of the Tata Group, has onboarded MoEngage, a customer engagement platform, to provide engaging experiences using their suite of marketing automation offerings.

Through this partnership, Tata Capital will drive an omnichannel experience across Email, WhatsApp, SMS, and Push, among others. The facilities would help customers across different loan categories. This will enhance Tata Capital’s capability to provide cutting-edge customer experience supporting the brand's continued growth in the Indian market.

Infosys collaborates with ServiceNow

India’s leading IT services company Infosys has announced its collaboration with ServiceNow, a digital workflow company, to launch the Infosys Live Operations platform, aimed at enhancing customer experiences (CX) for telecom providers.

Infosys leveraged ServiceNow technology to build Infosys Live Operations, which integrates with legacy and digital environments to simplify business operations by application rationalization and technology stack optimization. As part of Infosys Cobalt, a set of services, solutions, and platforms for enterprises to accelerate their cloud journey, Infosys Live Operations will help telecom service providers reduce time-to-market and make feature-rich products. The platform aims to deliver up to 95% improvement in operational efficiency, a 10-20 percent increase in quality of service and experience, and a 40 percent reduction in operational costs.

Infosys supports BT Group’s work with ServiceNow and has delivered multiple key projects in the past, using a range of different ServiceNow products and capabilities.

JumpCloud forms partnership with Google Cloud

JumpCloud has partnered with Google Cloud on a new joint offering that enables businesses to combine Google Workspace with the open directory platform provided by JumpCloud to strengthen its security and management of hybrid workforces.

The Google Workspace and JumpCloud package combines collaboration and productivity, directory services, device management, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and more in a single offering. Google Workspace and JumpCloud packages are available through Google Workspace resellers around the world.
