TVS provided an epic lifestyle experience to Indian motorcyclists at its second edition of MotoSoul on March 2-3, 2023. The two-day event, held in Goa, witnessed multiple activities, including dirt races, obstacle races, stunt shows, slow races, and more.

However, the biggest highlight of the entire event was the exhibition of four custom-built motorcycles based on TVS Ronin. The motorcycle has been well-received in the Indian market ever since it was launched in July last year. The model is TVS’ first attempt at offering a premium lifestyle product with a retro design theme.

At MotoSoul 2023, the Hosur-based bikemaker showcased four different iterations of the bike, custom modified for different purposes. Two of these custom bikes were built by overseas workshops, while the other two were built in India.

Ronin Agonda by JvB Moto

Built by Germany-based JvB Moto, Agonda is a scrambler-style urban bike whose name is derived from the Agonda beach in Goa. The motorcycle is wrapped in a subtle white paint scheme with red and blue pinstripes on its fuel tank. It gets a custom-designed flat tail section with a luggage rack and a raised single-piece aftermarket handlebar.

Other changes include an exposed frame, serrated footpegs, a new instrument console, a custom headlamp casing, an exhaust muffler, and an engine casing. The bike gets new black alloy wheels, shod with dual-purpose Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, capable enough to handle mild soft roading.

Ronin Musashi by Smoked Garage

Another custom motorcycle, Musashi, which translates to a free, wandering Samurai in Japanese, is built by Smoked Garage, an Indonesia-based workshop. The bike’s design is true to its name with a brat bike theme, featuring wire-spoked wheels shod with knobby, dual-purpose tyres from Dunlop.

Further, the swing arm has been extended to accommodate a horizontally-mounted monoshock at the rear. It also flaunts plenty of custom-made body panels, including a redesigned carbon-fibre bodywork along with a chopped tail section. Other custom elements include a raised handlebar, exhaust muffler, and a protective headlamp casing.

Ronin Wakizashi by Rajputana Customs

Ronin Wakizashi is made in India and named after the Japanese short sword—Wakizashi. Built by Jaipur-based Rajputana Customs, this derivative of Ronin gets a café racer-inspired look with minimal styling elements, featuring a brushed metallic body, lowered handlebars, a single-person seat, and a rear cowl.

Moreover, the frame is chopped from the rear and rests on an aftermarket mono-shock and a custom-designed swingarm. The footpegs are moved further back, offering a committed, forward-leaning rider’s posture. The handlebar sits below the upper edge of the fuel tank, while the wire-spoked wheels are wrapped with road-biased tyres.

Ronin SCR by TVS

Built in-house by the TVS design team, the SCR stands for ‘special custom Ronin’ and also serves as a prefix to the ‘scrambler’ style of bikes. Ronin SCR is a proper off-road scrambler, donning some premium hardware, including suspension spacers, which have increased the bike’s ride height and ground clearance.

Enhancing the bike’s off-road capability are the knobby Shinko Adventure Trail tyres, wrapped around wire-spoke wheels. Other modifications made on this iteration of Ronin include custom front and rear fenders, a high-mounted scrambler style exhaust setup with twin mufflers, an aftermarket twin-pod LED headlamp unit, a redesigned solo seat, custom livery and graphics, and a bash plate to protect the engine.
