Get the day going with a glass of water

A natural detoxifier, water does more than just quench your thirst. It plays a huge role in the physiological and enzymatic reactions in our body, as it regulates body temperature and is the best solution for weight loss. Another bonus, it’s a stress reliever too. Try drinking a glass of water before a meeting and you’ll know.

Start your day right with a large glass of water on an empty stomach. Make sure you drink about six to eight glasses a day. You can even squeeze half a lemon in it to add in flavour!

Rise early to shine through the day

Most of the successful leaders across the world wake up early. Not only does waking up early keep you ahead professionally, it also boosts your health. It improves memory and learning, and wards away depression too.

Putting in a bit of stretching and squatting will keep you active all throughout the day. A 30-minute workout with short breaks can be your initial start and with time you can change your cardio routine.

Keep calm and do yoga

Yoga should be on top of your agenda if a healthy lifestyle is what you are striving for in the coming year. You can kickstart your day with a surya namaskar and end it with a minute of shav assan. As said by the granddaddy of Yoga BKS Iyengar “In the practice of yoga, one can emphasize the body, the mind or the self and hence the effort can never be fruitless.” Start engaging yourself in a light evening session of yoga and meditation, the rewards will be lifelong.

A royal breakfast will help you in your daily conquest

Skipping breakfast is possibly the worst mistake towards starting the day. To start your day on the right note you need to ensure you have a high-energy diet that can keep your attention and productivity at an optimum level. The right time to have your breakfast is at around 7 am or within an hour of waking up. It is better to pick complex carbs as it gives you a better satiety value and fullness than the other simple carbs. With the high-stressed jobs, and long hours of travel time in cities, it is essential for entrepreneurs and startup employees to not skip breakfast.

Keep junk food at bay

Are those greasy pizzas and grilled cheeseburgers tempting you to skip homemade food? Well, a research article from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that a diet rich in processed food will sooner than later affect your heart. Since entrepreneurs are mostly on the run or travelling extensively, home-cooked food is hard to come by than investor funding. In such cases ensure that you look at healthy alternatives such as nuts, seed, fruits, etc.

Hearty dose of laughter

It is very rare to find people talking about the time they spent to just unwind by laughter. Maybe our busy schedules are to blame, but seriously laughing is seriously one of the best stress busters. Being cheerful not just impacts you but the team and the people around you. In the coming year make sure to laugh more.

Learn a new hobby

Weekends are the only time one can relax a little. Start with a new hobby this 2018, like learning a musical instrument, painting or even trying your hand in the kitchen with cookery. If indoors aren’t your thing, pick a location outskirts and go on a trek with friends. Or you can even grow your own organic terrace garden if gardening interests you.

Quality time with family

Balancing work and family is quite a task. Nevertheless, you cannot allow work to eat up your family time. If such is the case, then it’s high-time you give your family the due attention they require. Leave the stress at your doorstep and enter your home with a happy mind. Learn to disconnect if you really want a break and return to something you love doing with a refreshed mind.
