Durgesh Khandelwal started off with a small flea market for a corporate client’s employees. Inspired by the success of flea markets in Goa and Bengaluru, he now runs one of Pune’s favourite creative events, the Wassup Flea market.

PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In this edition, we feature some of the exhibits and activities at Pune’s Wassup Flea market.

In the earlier 160 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from a cartoon gallery. world music festival, telecom expo, art gallery, climate change expo, street art festival, wildlife conference, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, Vesak, millets fair, and jazz festival.

“There is a boom in creativity in India,” said Durgesh Khandelwal, founder of Wassup Flea, in a chat with YourStory. He recalled how he first got a request to do a small flea market for a corporate client’s employees. Emboldened by its success, he then started a flea market at a mall, and finally expanded into a series of full-fledged annual flea markets in Pune.

The flea market has been held at locations such as Aundh, Baner, Pashan, Phoenix Market City and Hinjewadi. The December weekend edition is held during the warm days and cold nights of Pune's winter, with spectacular sunsets.

The 2017 edition featured workshops as well as food trucks, a wish wall (for the selfie generation!), artists, designers, chefs, craft brewers, and performances by emerging bands. This photo showcase includes some of the exhibitors at the winter edition in Koregaon Park.

The 2017 lineup featured Meteora Art, Trisha Jewels, Bath Boons, Fat & Sexy Chef, Rock & Roses, Om Vibe, Culture Colony, White Owl Craft Beer, Sheep Stop, LuckKart, Ancestree, Chirkutt, and many others.

“Keep investing and working on your dream till you become the best,” Durgesh urges aspiring artists and entrepreneurs.

Now what have you done lately to dream your dreams and walk the talk?
