This Children's Day, Miracle Foundation is gifting healthcare to 100 orphan children

This Children's Day, Miracle Foundation is gifting healthcare to 100 orphan children

Monday November 13, 2017 , 4 min Read

By offering quality healthcare to 100 orphans for a full year, so they grow and thrive, Miracle Foundation is also giving us the power to make miracles for parentless kids this Children's Day.

It was the June of 2016 when Keerthika, a nine-year-old was put into a children's home after losing her mother to an illness. Unable to take care of her anymore, her father was left with no choice. What was most worrying was when her first hemoglobin test came in at an alarmingly low level. Inadequate nutrition had gravely affected her health and disrupted her growth.

Fortunately, with support from Miracle Foundation and its donors, Keerthika has never fallen ill since. An iron-rich diet, an extra daily glass of milk, and additional health supplements have helped improve her hemoglobin. Today, she is more cheerful than ever, attending school with care from a loving family.

To replicate and multiply this level of joy in the lives of children without parental care and celebrate Children's Day is the most meaningful way, Miracle Foundation India, an NGO with a mission to empower orphan children to reach their full potential, has teamed up with an online crowdfunding platform, giving us the opportunity to secure lives.

Measured impact

With Children's Day established to promote international togetherness and improve children's welfare, Miracle Foundation emphasises that now is a great time to support children in need.

Their Healthcare for 100 Orphans campaign runs through November 14, with a set goal to raise Rs 3,00,000, which will be used to provide quality healthcare to 100 deserving children across the homes Miracle Foundation supports in India. The funds raised will help the organisation assist their robust healthcare interventions based on the United Nations Rights of the Child and activate the Right to Healthcare, allowing them to offer preventative care like immunisations, regular visits from doctors, de-worming, dental and eye care, and emergency health care when needed.

Going a step ahead, Miracle Foundation has also codified the Rights of the Child and developed a Thrive Scale, which meticulously measures the progress of every child in their care. The Thrive Scale not only gives those caring for orphaned children an assessment of how they are doing, but specific and practical steps to improve.

Further, by the right to healthcare and nutrition, a local ground team every month monitors the height, weight, hemoglobin, immunisation records, and weekly menu for each of the children it supports, and intervene quickly to address any issues. This approach ensures that children are receiving effective, holistic healthcare services that help them thrive.

Donate with open hearts

Talking about how we can be of importance through this campaign, Caroline Boudreaux, Founder, Miracle Foundation says, “Every child deserves the basic right to healthcare, and this campaign is a powerful way for people to get involved in making the world a better place for children. Let this campaign empower you enough to empower these 100 orphans in return. We invite everyone to make this Children’s Day a special one and change the lives of these children.”

Daily meals

“We chose a crowdfunding campaign so we could show donors the impact of their donation. The measurability of our interventions ensures we know the exact impact of donations, which enables us to provide full transparency and maintain integrity to our donors, whether they give Rs 100 or Rs 100 lakh,” she adds.

The impact a small donation can make is immense. For every thousand rupees or more, you and I can make three meals with protein, fruits, vegetables, eggs, jaggery and a glass of milk a daily luxury for a child for a full month. An amount of Rs 2,250 will provide lifesaving vaccinations for three children, while Rs 3,000 can give 10 children medical checkups and emergency healthcare for month, and anything above Rs 5,000 will make dental and eye care checkups for 50 children a real possibility.

With a little service, this campaign is not only putting underserved children on a path to good health and well-being but is also giving the biggest dreamers a chance to dream on.
