Friday April 07, 2017 , 3 min Read

Why some candidates get the job and why the other candidates who are equally capable get rejected will always be a mystery. All interviews are divided into three main parts – the introduction, the purpose, and the closing. If you master all three parts, you are bound to increase your chances of landing the job. To master the three parts, you need to understand the objective of each part from the interviewer's point of view. We've put together a three step approach plan to explain the nuances of job interviews.

Do some research on the company

A lot of people believe that if you have the required experience for the job, you'll land the job. That is where they go wrong. Interviewers look for so much more than just educational degrees and experience when they are searching for the right candidate to hire. They see how knowledgeable the applicant is in matters of current affairs. You might have the experience for the job, but if you are not aware about what's happening around you in the outside world, you might lose your chances of getting the job. It is always a good idea to study the current events of the company you are interviewing for. This puts you at an advantage when you ask pertinent questions during the interview.

Know your resume like the back of your hand

Faking skills such as the languages you can speak or your educational qualifications is a really bad idea because whatever you put on your resume is at the interviewer's disposal to dissect and examine. Another very important thing pertaining to your resume is that you should know what's on it till the very last detail. Being able to verify and validate what's on your resume will not only help you build credibility with your interviewer, but it will also convince him that you can come in and do the job. Speaking intelligently about each of your previous positions and the skills mentioned on your CV will convince your interviewer to place his bets on you.

Pay attention to the job description

The interviewer's main purpose for calling you for an interview is to find out whether you've got it in you to do the job. After you have landed the interview, you should pay close attention to the job description to understand what the interviewer is looking for. If the description calls for excellent language skills, you can discuss examples of how you impressed a client or your seniors at your previous positions with your ability to speak and write articulately. When you navigate the discussion with ease, it not only shows self-confidence but also demonstrates to the interviewer that you have done your research for the interview.

Everyone wants to land their dream job but not everybody knows how to navigate through a minefield of unexpected questions thrown their way by interviewers. Use the above tactics for your next job interview to improve your chances of getting the job.
