This Diwali Season, e-commerce companies and platforms rush to offer deals and discounts

Commercialization of festivals has taken place years ago and the phenomena is growing bigger and bigger with time. According to Criteo’s survey, the Diwali period in the previous year saw an upsurge in average visitors on key Indian retailers’ websites, leading to an increase in the average sales of e-commerce companies. The biggest category during the sale was TV and mobile.

Now, not long before the winter sets in with the arrival of Diwali, e-commerce platforms have started warming up consumers with festive bonanza discounts.

The survey says that with the rapid increase in the number of smartphones and mobile data consumption, phones have become the first point of brand interaction with their users. The smartphone may represent the most personalised medium to reach India’s consumer audience.

Flipkart: The online shopping giant plans to bring out great offerings this Diwali season with the Happy Diwali Sale, scheduled between the 28th and 30th of October.

Amazon: Yesterday, Amazon announced that its second Great Indian Festival Sale will begin on the 17th of October and continue till 20th October. It plans to offer huge discounts on fashion, electronics, books and entertainment products.

Snapdeal: Snapdeal’s second edition of the Unbox Diwali Sale is scheduled to end today, October 14. The sale, which began on October 12, features offers on electronics, fashion and home products.

Paytm: Paytm has announced a Diwali sale of its own, with intentions to give out Rs 100 crore in cashbacks.

According to the company, Paytm’s Maha Bazaar Sale, which began yesterday, will feature promotions across several categories, including fashion (led by ethnic wear), gifts and sweets, mobiles, consumer durables and home furnishings, it said in a statement.

Xiaomi: The company has announced its Diwali deals and discounts on its products between 17th and 19th October.

Besides offering many freebies on every purchase, the phone maker will offer a Re 1 flash sale. The sale starts on 17th Oct at 2 pm, and will offer the Redmi 3S Prime and the Mi Bluetooth speaker for Re 1. On 18th October, 16GB Redmi Note 3 and 20,000 mAh power bank will go on sale for a rupee, and finally, on 19th October, the Mi 4 and Mi Band 2 will be available at Re 1.

LeEco: Another phone maker, LeEco will hold the 'LeMall for All' sale between October 18th and October 20th, and the company will offer discounts and deals on smartphones, TVs and accessories.
