The need for creativity extends far beyond any art studio. In fact, it's an essential surviving skill for everyone ‑ be it an entrepreneur, sportsman, CEO or a newly hired executive.

Creativity lays the foundation for great innovations, which ultimately change the world. This is the reason why companies like Google ask their employees to devote at least 20 percent of their time on projects that require creative thinking.

We agree that few people are gifted creative thinkers, but that doesn't mean others can't boost their creative power. Should you wish to improve your creative power, here are five ways that can help you get desired results.

Practice day dreaming

Have you ever noticed how kids manage to think of ideas that sound ingenious to their parents? It's because they know nothing about the term 'impossible'. They just dream and have faith that those dreams can come true. If they can do so, why can't you?

Creativity is all about thinking out of the box. If you're find it difficult to come up with creative ideas, practice daydreaming for about 30-40 minutes on daily basis. If you have a team of creative people, then use these few minutes as a brainstorming session. Have a focal point of this session and try to think of all sorts of solutions from the different point of views.

Cut yourself from the internet

Creativity starts boiling down the moment you let the internet consume you in the name of social media. I'm not saying that the internet is bad, but there's too much negativity out there, which isn't beneficial for creative minds. If you notice, all bestselling writers and movie stars become active on their social media pages during promotions, and suddenly disappear for months the moment a new project starts.

If they're wise enough to follow this simple secret, why can't you do the same? Try shutting down Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp for a week and you'll be amazed to see the results.

Spend time with nature

Studies claim that the colours green and blue have a positive impact on mental health. While green is considered beneficial for creative people, blue is the color of the sky as well as the sea and is associated with tranquility and peace. So, take some time out of your busy schedule and get lost in forests and mountains. It will not only give you some time to forget worldly complexities, but will also inspire you to think creatively.

Meditate

As Lao Tzu once wrote, "At the center of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want." Remember, all the answers lie within you and are revealed when you seek them beyond fear. Meditation can help you look inside, activate the right side of the brain, and be at peace. Start with 20 minutes every morning and increase the duration gradually.

Sweat it out

Creativity is a skill that anyone can master, but today's hassled life makes it difficult to pursue it on a day-to-day basis. Complexities like revenue targets, client closures, family issues, professional growth, business expansion, etc., don't let creativity flourish.

You can throw off your frustration by sweating it out in the gym. It is one of the best and most convenient ways of boosting creativity.

At the end, it's all about how well you handle your brain and train it to think as per your command. Follow the steps mentioned above, and you'll definitely notice changes.
