Available on both android and iPhones, Houzz has been labelled the ‘Wikipedia of interior and exterior design’.

How it works: Houzz allows you to browse more than four million home-images, categorised as under- room, style and location. The best part is, you can select your favourite designs and save it to your ‘Ideabook’, which will then proceed to store them and give the app’s professional designers an idea of your taste, for future recommendations.

  • Snapshop

Have you ever wanted to buy a bean-bag or a coffee table, but been unsure as to where it would look right in your room? Well, think no more!

How it works: Snapshot allows you to upload a picture of your room, on which it overlays furniture as per your demand for type and brand. It then allows you to move and rotate the piece to where you believe it fits best in the room. You can also view colour options, pricing, dimensions and other variations in the room, following which you can place the order for your chosen piece.

  • iFixIt

This app is available on android phones and works as a repair and teardown guide for various devices, including furniture and other household appliances.

How it works: Users can browse either by category or by the device model, where they can check out the features and guides to repair the appliance/furniture. It also suggests part replacements for it. To get these replacements, it provides links to its online store where you can purchase it. It also enables users to create and upload their own repair or teardown guides, which will then be featured.

This one’s for all lovers of art, available on both androids and iPhones. This app helps you visualize what your favourite art piece will look like, hanging on your wall.

How it works: Upload a picture of a blank wall, select your art piece and voila! The app will show you what your wall is going to look like with the art piece! It also allows you to browse pieces from your favourite artists, as well as galleries, giving you the option to choose among many.

Available on the Web, Android and iPhone- this app is like the ‘Shazzam of furniture’.

How it works: This app will ‘read’ the image of the product that you upload, and then cross-check its features with its digital inventory, which contains over 25 million products. It will offer you not only the features of the model you have selected, but also others which are similar in style to it. It also allows you to compare the prices between these products and then save it, so as to refer to later.
