Announcing YourStory Startup Sports League

India prides itself on being a sports crazy nation. We are crazy about watching sports that is. Be it cricket, tennis or football, we make very good cheerleaders. But how many of us actively play on the field?

As torchbearers of the ‘disruptive generation’, it’s time, dear startups, to pull your punches and get ready to kick some ball.

YourStory is bringing the Startup Sports League, one-of-a-kind event to help you exercise more than your brain cells. Time to give the groaning bean bags respite, and the laptops some snooze time as you pick up your sneakers instead. So go gather your team, do the Haka and show the ecosystem what your startup's 'team' spirit is really about. The sports league promises to level the playing field like never before; this is one place where it will not matter whether you are bootstrapped or you raised Series B!

A two day startup sports marathon for 1000+ participants followed by a fun filled interactive Sports Night.

Tournament:

Football matches will be played on artificial turf through the day and under lights on 5-a-side sized fields on Friday evening and Saturday. The Throwball tournament will 4-a-side format (mixed doubles with 2 women and men each per team) and played on a sand court (yeah..beach style) on Saturday

Fun and Games:

Join in for exciting fun events conducted at the venue while waiting for your matches to keep your spirits high and hamstrings warm...no we don't mean alcohol - not just yet atleast!! Be it wall climbing, paintball, laser tag, bowling, carting, fitness sessions, football experiential sessions, relays activities and physio sessions - feel free to take your pick from a host of activities.

And finally, the Sports Night:

All ye' gladiators, join us for the best sports-party ever!! Network your way through interactive panel sessions, fireside chats and the award ceremony while downing a few beers to toast your day's on-field conquests. And as always, we save the best for the last - witness an epic Investors vs. Founders on-field futsal match - no red card rules applies on this one :).

Startup Sports League Rules :

Football:

Matches will be played for in a League cum Knockout format. There need to be a maximum of 5 players per team on the field at any given time with upto 3 subs off-field. A team can make upto 5 substitutions per match during ball-outs. Each match will be 20 minutes long with 2 halves of 10 mins each.

Throwball (Mixed Doubles):

Matches will be played for in a Knockout format. There need to be a maximum of 4 players per team on the court at any given time consisting of at least 2 women. Each match will be played to 21 points using the rally based scoring system.
