From a daily wage worker to a golfing star: Chikkarangappa's story

S Chikkarangappa was born amidst great poverty, and joined a golf resort as a daily-wage worker to support his family. Today, not only has he infiltrated a sport of the rich, but has also become a golfing sensation.

There was a time when Chikkarangappa used a tree branch to practice his swing. He went on to win his first trophy when he was just 11 years old. Today, he has become the second Indian after Sujjan Singh to ever win the Asian Development Tour, as reported by The Better India.

What makes his story even more interesting is his association with Rahul Dravid, who served as his mentor and helped him succeed. In an interview with The Times of India, Chikkarangappa said, “Rahul sir told me, ‘always try to be in the situation. Focus on the particular day and leave the past behind’, which is in fact working for me.”
