These three Indian mothers drove from Delhi to London to fulfil their childhood dream

These three Indian mothers drove from Delhi to London to fulfil their childhood dream

Thursday December 03, 2015 , 1 min Read

21,477 kilometres, 17 countries, 97 days and 3 women is not something we read in a single sentence often. Well, when three best friends – Rashmi Koppar, Dr Soumya Goyal, and Nidhi Tiwari – choose to live up their childhood dreams, nothing is impossible. With no back-up vehicle, the three mothers in their mid-30s have driven from Delhi to London with the message of women empowerment.

The women have been friends since childhood, and have gone on several expeditions across the Western Ghats and the Himalayas before, but driving all the way to London was a rare dream. Nidhi, the only driver among the three, conceptualised the trip.

Their vehicle was sponsored by Mahindra First Choice, as they crossed 17 countries including Myanmar, China, Russia, Finland, and Germany. “It was only in India and England that we spoke in English. In the other countries, we used sign language and Google translator,” said Dr Soumya Goyal, therapist at MS Ramaiah Hospital, Bangalore, in an interview with the Times of India.
