Tuesday October 13, 2015 , 2 min Read

Kudumbashree mission's initiative 'Kudumbashree Travels', the taxi cars with women on the wheels, can now be booked online and through mobile apps. VST Travel Solutions, a startup floated by a bunch of youngsters and incubated at Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation's Startup Zone at Angamaly, is behind the new application 'VehicleST'.

In addition to taxi cars, the 'VehicleST' application can be used to book auto-rickshaws, tourist buses, flight tickets, ambulances, bulldozers, recovery vehicles and other emergency services. The application can also be used for finding the nearest service station if a vehicle breaks down or a tyre gets punctured. Another important feature of this application is that users can rate and review services based on the quality of services provided.

To begin with, VST Travel Solutions' application will be available in Thiruvanthapuram, Kochi and Thrissur. The company plans to expand its services across the state by tying up with Akshaya Kendras. The application which is available at Google Play, will soon be available in iOS and Windows. VST's CEO Alwin George said the tie-up with Kudumbashree is aimed at providing better and safer services to women passengers.

Flagging off the Kudumbashree Taxi service at a function in Thiruvanthapuram, Technopark CEO K G Girish Babu said the App would be much useful for Technopark employees. He also appreciated the facility in the app for review and rating of services, which will help customers to choose better services. Abdul Gafar, Kudumbashree district mission coordinator, said the new app would help Kudumbashree taxi services to get more customers and thereby higher revenues.
