YourStory in association with Accel Partners had previously launched “The Marketplace 2015″ – a platform to discover some of the best marketplace-based startups from across India, every month. The aim here was to get the spotlight on young and emerging startups in fast growing sectors.

“The Marketplace 2015” facilitates visibility, meaningful engagements and discussions, support and mentoring for startups building marketplaces for Indian buyers and sellers. “The Marketplace” model provides a unique platform for business transactions as well as knowledge dissemination in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The finalists chosen for July are:

Fxchng is India’s first social classifieds platform which leverages the power of social networks. It makes use of mutual connections between buyers and sellers to complete a trusted and transparent deal.

Engrave is an artist's market, that is, a platform for unique furniture, art, craft, fashion, and home decor created by artisans and crafts persons from India.

FunStay is an online portal where vacation rentals owners (hosts) can list their homes and tourists can find and book comfortable home-like accommodation for short periods of stay. FunStay envisions to be the largest marketplace of alternate stays globally.

MyBrandFeed is a common mobile platform that works as the go to place for information on all brands. Here people can follow and get updates of new products, deals, and stories from brands, businesses, and stores.

Justprop is a real estate marketplace which aims to make real estate services standardised and hassle-free. They are building a full-fledged technology platform that is mobile focused to be able to solve real-time problems faced by customers.

BakeryBite makes it easier to find the best bakery in a specific area and to order from it. Bakery products need specifications (like message on cake) which apps like TinyOwl and Foodpanda don't allow. Bakerybite also makes placing online orders easier and more affordable because of their competitive pricing.

Blaez was chosen as the winner for the month of July. It is a platform that facilitates the transactions between restaurants and wholesale vendors, and are therefore automating the B2B operations in the sector – from ordering, accounting to delivery of stock. They are already getting good traction and have started beta testing with a leading vendor. Blaez was founded on the principle of helping restaurateurs and food industry vendors better manage their business through digitisation and increase their business visibility through analytics. Ankur Joshi, founder of Blaez says, "The whole food services industry in India is highly unorganized and still run on 20th century tech. It is in serious need of consolidation. Our mission is to digitize, organize and consolidate the industry."

The advantages of using Blaez are

  • Placing orders and taking delivery from vendors gets more organised.
  • Having this process done online reduces the manpower required and economises on daily costs.
  • Vendors find it easier to plan delivery since all the requirements are clearly stated in advance on the platform.
  • Analytics become easier and more accurate since all the data are online.

Submissions are being received for the upcoming month. If you are a marketplace-based startup, you can apply here now!
