Finding roomies just got easier; Introducing Flatchat, a networking app for shared places
One of the biggest headaches that comes with moving to a new city is finding a place to stay. Apart from location of the apartment and other details, you also need to have flatmates you get along with. After all, they are not just people who rent a room in the same apartment, they are also people you end up seeing most, after your colleagues.
Making it easier to find people you can get along with and share living space is Flatchat, an app which enables networking within a community of people looking for common accommodation.
Flatchat is launched by Flat.to team which is taking a new mobile first direction by launching this new app. Flat.to was acquired by commonfloor.com, an online real estate platform, earlier this year.

“What we have seen over the past one and half years is that finding flatmates and shared places is still a very huge problem especially in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Currently people rely on Facebook Groups to find shared places and flatmates. And that’s what lead to the birth of Flatchat,” said Gaurav Munjal, founder of Flat.to, makers of Flatchat.
Flatchat also has a useful feature: the 'Flatchat assistant'
So apart from allowing you to chat with members who match your requirements (and you theirs) Flatchat also provides you with a human assistant who will be your one point of contact for any requirement you have.
The assistant will personally assist you in finding available places. The team at the back end will make calls matching your requirement and send you options. The person looking for accommodation can chat with the assistant who will make it easier to find and meet matches.
Flatchat, which had a soft launch recently, will be officially launching at YourStory’s TechSparks Grande Finale on Oct 18 at Bangalore.
