[Awesome Startup Employee] Mampi, creating value at Moolya

The Co-founder and CEO of Moolya, Pradeep Soundarajan has nominated Mampi as the Awesome Startup Employee.

Pradeep says that as a mobility test solutions company, their work is being recognized worldwide for testing mobile apps. This recognition is usually centered upon the testing team. However, there are people behind the scenes whose work is often not visible to the world. According to him, Mampi is one such backstage artist for Moolya who helps the team deliver great value to their customer. She has been handling everything from office administration, recruitment, travel, vendor interaction, payroll, and customer visit planning, etc. and performs each task with 100% dedication.

“Despite all the great work, Mampi is humble. That humbleness separates her from the rest,” he says.

Mampi is a HR Manager at Moolya. She handles people practice management and a lot of direct and indirect work with employee and employer to get the work done on time. She also handles HR practices starting from welcoming a new recruit on the first day to the exit procedure.

Mampi says her unique sounding name is very common in Kolkata. Post her graduation in B.Sc Biotechnology and MBA in HR she worked with many different organizations. Before Moolya, she was working at Avembsys, an aviation company as HR Executive. Mampi says, “I liked the company but I had this feeling that I was looking for something more. Finally I crossed paths with Moolya, which was recommended to me by my friends. When I got a call from Pradeep, he told me very clearly to understand that the infrastructure and other luxurious facilities like in MNC companies would not be available here at Moolya. It was really impressive as he told me about the company before I even arrived for the interview.”

“What I discovered was that if I do my best I would automatically have self-satisfaction. The rest does not matter.”

When she joined Moolya she was working as an Associate – workforce & admin, so she was mostly handling a mix of everything starting from Operations, Finance, Recruitment, HR and Admin. “We were in a garage office when I joined Moolya. Later with the shift to a bigger office space, my roles and responsibilities got segregated as we hired people for individual positions and to bring a spark in our working speed.”

Pradeep shares, “Mampi resonates the values of Moolya. She wants to solve every problem in a fantastic manner. That is how Moolya wants to be in the space of mobility testing. Her work inspires people in Moolya and sets a high benchmark for our work culture. He adds, “Some of the great qualities of Mampi that qualify her for the Awesome Startup Employee are that she is simple and chases excellence all the time. At times, when she realizes that she did not do a perfect job, she learns and does it perfectly the next time or continues to learn till she has mastered it.”

Pradeep shares an interesting anecdote when he had given her feedback about her work during her initial days. “I did a bad job of communicating the feedback, and it came out like a warning. She appeared hurt and the reaction she had on her face made me think she won't turn up the next day. She did turn up, and became who she is today. She not only worked on the feedback but has also learnt to take feedback in the right spirit to help her do better.”

“Moolya provides a friendly and cool work environment that allows us to share our thoughts and ideas without any hesitation. There is no restriction to express yourself if you feel something is going wrong,” says Mampi. Her happiest moment at Moolya was when she completed her first year at Moolya and broke her record of leaving companies within three to six months duration. She says, “This proved that Moolya is different from others; it is what makes me happy.”

Mampi says work life balance is important and at the end of a long day she likes to have fun with friends, watch movies to relax before going to bed.
