With over 18 million members, Snapdeal.com is one of the country’s leading horizontally focused e-commerce destination. At present, the company has over 30,000 merchants which it expects to triple to reach 100,000 sellers within the next 12 months.

Earlier in July this year, the Delhi-based company had launched Smartfeed – a personal shopping guide for its customers. It provides users personalized shopping ideas and a trending list of products which are popular on the platform and relevant for the specific user.

With the increasing pressure to acquire more customers and attain profitability online, marketplaces are introducing new categories and features. Earlier this year, Gurgaon-based ShopClues had launched an express check-out feature and an exclusive program for wholesale merchants.

Over the past one year, mobile has been driving e-commerce in India in a big way. While half of Snapdeal orders come via mobile, Flipkart top brass Sachin Bansal has expressed his company’s intention to become mobile commerce entity in the next two-three years.

By launching Seller Zone App, Snapdeal will undoubtedly generate interest of mobile savvy sellers. Also it will enable merchants to keep track of inventory, sales etc while they are on the go.
