Get the right value from your DTH connection with Komparify

Sunday April 13, 2014 , 3 min Read

Technology was made to simplify our life. Add-on packs were made to bring down the cost of technologies like mobile phones. You can now buy a SMS pack, a night calling pack, a pack for data connection, a rate cutter plan for national calling, and a pack for ISD calls. To top this you also have a USB Internet Data card with infinite plans. And you never know when these plans change. How are you supposed to know which plan is best for you? Enter Komparify.

Formerly known as 3gsimplified, Komparify is a platform which lets you select the best plan based on your usage. It’s Android app PlanHound monitors your calls, SMS and data usage to give you detailed statistics about the number of incoming and outgoing calls, including local calls and standard calls, on-net calls and off-net calls and SMS (out of your carrier network) and a similar statistic for the data usage. It then suggests the best plan for you accordingly.

The app also won the NASSCOM emerge award. We covered the app earlier here.

So what’s new?

To get into a larger market, Komparify recently expanded into DTH Set Top boxes. With over 500 channels available, an average household watches only 25 channels. Once you log on to Komparify, you can select different operators and set top boxes to compare the channels they are offering to viewers. This helps the user gain a broader perspective into the kind of services offered by DTH providers as most of us just contact one/two providers and keep looking through the pamphlet.

Komparify consolidates all the information at one place along with the cost of each service. Therefore helping users make better informed decision when buying a set top box.

The number of DTH connections when compared to mobile phones and data cards seems pretty low as one family may have maximum two connections when compared to multiple mobile phones in a family. Ankit Chhajer, Founder of Komparify, says, "Though there are a large number of mobile users in India, the margin on mobile recharges is very small. But when it comes to DTH connections the margin is comparatively high and also only four metros have been digitized so far, there is a huge market to tap in Tier II and Tier III cities."

Many people are looking to upgrade from standard to High Definition Set Top Boxes and the company is receiving a huge number of enquiries. Many people buy a five year connection and pay for it completely in one go, according to Ankit.

Komparify is at present the only service which provides detailed comparison of all three services - mobile, data and DTH.
