Mission Moon: Aerospace startup Indus will vie for Google Lunar X Prize

Mission Moon: Aerospace startup Indus will vie for Google Lunar X Prize

Friday December 14, 2012 , 2 min Read

Houston, we have a problem! Team Indus is trying to achieve something that India hasn’t been able to do till now!
Yes, Team Indus is planning to get India on the map of countries that’ve been to the moon. A passionate, almost crazy team of 5 people have decided to take part in the Google Lunar X Prize.

What is the Google Lunar X Prize?

The Google Lunar X Prize is an effort to ignite a new era of lunar exploration by offering the largest international incentive prize of all time. A total of $30 million in prizes are available to the first privately funded teams to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon and have that robot travel 500 meters over the lunar surface and send images and data back to the Earth. Teams must be at least 90% privately funded, though commercially reasonable sales to government customers are allowed without limit.

Team Indus has its eyes set on the X Prize and has already done the groundwork for the mission. The team has to raise close to $ 15 million to put in their best foot forward for the mission. The sprint to the start has begun and now they need the support of the nation.

So open your purse strings and stay tuned for more… Buckle your seat belts, lots more is on its way. Till then, have a look at their FaceBook Page...
