All Groups on Facebook Will Now Have File-Sharing Capability
380 million people on Facebook use groups and there had always been a persistent grievance, "Why can't I share files?" The question has been addressed and now all groups will be getting the feature soon. Facebook had acquired drop.io in 2010 and Sam Lessin had joined Facebook. Acquiring all the technology assets, Facebook has now put it in use and rolled out the file sharing capability.Key Points:
- Users can upload files upto 25MB (barring music files and .exe files)
- To prevent the spread of malicious, inappropriate or copyrighted files, users can report files the same way they can with other content across the site
- Earlier launched Facebook 'Groups for schools' had this capability but an .edu address was needed to use it but will be open for everyone now
Mashable broke the news as an 'exclusive scoop' and revealed the details. The feature will be extremely useful and this leaves one wondering when the much-in-demand 'dislike' button will be incorporated.
Also, coming in after an year of acquiring drop.io, one might have to wait some time before the results of acquiring Instagram and Tagtile show up.
